The Bubblecar Museum

Museum | Boston | England | United Kingdom

The Bubblecar Museum in Boston is a unique museum dedicated to "Bubblecars" or microcars – small, economical vehicles that were particularly popular in the mid-20th century. These vehicles had engines with a capacity of less than 700cc and provided a cost-effective alternative to traditional cars, especially in the post-war period.

The museum showcases over 50 different microcars, including models from well-known manufacturers such as Bond, Isetta, Reliant, Frisky, and Bamby. The collection is presented in thematically designed dioramas, allowing visitors to gain a deep insight into this fascinating era of automotive history. There are also a number of recreated shops reflecting the life and times of these vehicles.

In addition to the vehicles, the museum also houses a variety of memorabilia documenting the history of these vehicles and their time. Visitors can wander through the exhibitions, relax in a café, and enjoy the range of gifts and souvenirs on offer.

The Bubblecar Museum offers an entertaining and educational experience for car enthusiasts and families alike, bringing the history of these special vehicles to life. It is a wonderful place to delve into the history of the British automotive industry and explore the development of these iconic small vehicles.

Disappointed that although the website says the museum is open, apparently it’s not, until February. Update your website please people.

Small museum with lots of period exhibits and all the cars. Campsite quiet and level, all grass that may be a problem when very wet. Enjoyed the visit and a ride in this Trojan👍

Really enjoyed the museum and the cafe. The museum contains a wide range of cars and bikes that showed the evolution of the micro car. With the cafe being good quality and very reasonableness price

Fantastic experience here, some great history to see & the cafe is very well priced. Two of us visited the museum then had a hot chocolate & food. The entire visit cost just £23. Very happy.

So many different types of micro cars (and trucks and scooters), as well as toys, games and other vintage displays. If you time it right, you might also get a ride in a tiny piece of history. Toilets are clean and there is a café and campground. I had a ride in a 1961 Messerschmidt and it was thrilling.

Eclectic private museum in middle of nowhere put it in navigation or you will shoot past the entrance like I did. All sorts of 1950,'60's unusual bubble cars motor cycles upstairs and even and old super polluting government issued disabled car form the '60's . Cute little tea house on site. Camping too Loved it. Go there!

Great little museum. With campsite. We went with a motorhome group rally. Lovely setting. But it's in the middle of nowhere and you will need alternative transport. Definitely recommend if your into bubble cars etc.

Interesting little museum, lots of bubble cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Display cases full of retro homeware, toys and clothes and rooms set out in mid 20th century style. There was an informative booklet describing the exhibits. There is a small cafe selling drinks and snacks at very reasonable cost. Only one problem it is difficult to see the entrance from the road we drove past and had to turn around and go back, so it needs better signage.

Quirky little museum celebrating the history of micro cars. Some 40+ on display. Interesting period room displays featuring 50's and 60's decor to reminisce over. A great value cafe adjacent as well as camping facilities.

A real step back in time. Really lovely to walk around. Our family really enjoyed walking around and looking at all the interesting history items. Loved to see all the old bubble cars. The cafe next door is extremely reasonably priced, £1.00 for pot of tea, £1.00 for a fruit or herbal tea, scone with clotted cream and jam, was £2.00. Home made chutneys for sale as well as some other items such as little cars.

Fascinating collection of cars. It's only a small place but so much is packed in there. Added bonus was loads of memorabilia across many years.
